NO MAN'S WORLD
Game Proposal
Project Overview
In the corner of a city lashed by torrential rain, a butterfly gently lands on a blurred figure, awakening a robot that has been asleep for a long time. As a domestic robot, R-7 had been abandoned in a cardboard box since being purchased, never having truly been powered on to see real humans. But when he finally earns this chance, he discovers that the world has long become a ruin. Among his broken robot companions, he finds a memory container that holds fragments of human life from the past. With a small spark of hope, he decides to begin a long journey to look for traces of his owner before his battery runs out, in this no man's world...
Players will play as R-7, accompanied by nature, to explore and uncover the truth behind the world‘s decline. He will meet many creatures, converse, and learn about their lives after humans disappeared, then set off again to say farewell. However, not all of them are friendly, it is a lonely journey with nothing that can be a permanent companion. At the end of his travels, as R-7's parts wear out and his battery depletes, he constructs a dreamland before shutting down, where all the memories collected during his journey become part of this fantasy. In the end, R-7 sits on the eaves of the house made from the cardboard box where he first awoke, closing his eyes alongside the cardboard figure of his imaginary owner.
Through the passage of seasons, from spring to fall, his memories will be found and carried on by someone else.

Overview
This was my first time creating and rigging a hard-surface character, and I spent a long time working on the rigging of cables and the piston structure of parts. Also, for the severed hand's finger part, I found a solution in the FK rigging used for animal tails.
The inspiration for this character comes from the robots in the underground city of 'Stray'. When I control the cat to interact with the robots, their reactions are displayed on the screen, which is very interesting. Therefore, I took this as an opportunity to design a robot and based on this character, I conceived a world view.
