02-3. Substance Designer

To enhance the fabric textures of my character's clothing, I created an embroidery effect using Substance Designer. The workflow is as follows:

  1. In Photoshop, use different colors to distinguish the embroidery areas.

  2. Import the color-separated image into Substance Designer and extract the alpha channels for each area.

  3. On the extracted alpha channels, add embroidery details (such as stitches, 3D embossing, and gloss variations) through nodes.

  4. Light and render in Marmoset Toolbag.
